New Patient Information
Below are some of the frequently asked questions new patients have about our practice and what they can expect. If your question is not answered here, please email or call us!
What are your hours?
Our hours are as follows: Mondays and Wednesdays we are in office from 8:30AM until 5:30PM, the last patient seen no later than 4:45PM. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we are in office from 7:30AM until 4:30PM, the last patient seen no later than 3:45PM. We are also in the office every other Friday morning, from 8:30AM until noon.
Who do you treat?
We treat whole families, and begin seeing children at the age of two and a half.
I'm due for my clinical check-up and cleaning. When can I get an appointment? Who will I be scheduled with?
For new patients not having an urgent dental problem, our office staff will schedule you for a one-hour appointment with Dr. Begley. The doctor will perform a thorough exam and clean your teeth if there is no gum disease present. Depending upon your scheduling flexibility, we can usually see you within 24-48 hours of your initial call.
Will my child also see Dr. Begley as a new patient?
Children (under the age of 18) who are new patients are scheduled with our hygienist for a 45 minute-1 hour appointment, depending on the child's age. Dr. Begley will examine your child's mouth once the hygienist has cleaned their teeth.
What should I expect at my initial appointment?
Expect a thorough review of your oral health! Dr. Begley's exam will include a review of your medical history, an oral cancer screening, periodontal charting of your gums, a visual assessment of your teeth to record existing restorations and determine if any treatment is needed, and an examination of your jaw and bite. Any necessary radiographs are normally taken to ensure no cavities are present between the teeth, and that the root structures of all of your teeth are healthy. If no gum disease is present, Dr. Begley will clean your teeth in your initial appointment. If there are gum issues present, after reviewing your oral health status with you, you will be instructed to schedule an appointment with our hygienist for cleaning.
Does your office take my insurance? Will you file my insurance for me? Do I have to pay you on the day I have treatment done?
Our office accepts any conventional type insurance plan, regardless of the company. If your plan is an HMO, you have a specific list of providers you must deal with to obtain benefits, and we would not be on that list. We are not "in network" with any dental insurance company, but a conventional style plan allows you to choose any dentist you wish. If there is a difference in what your insurance company pays and what is owed our office, you are responsible for the difference, and you will be charged for the remaining balance.
We WILL file your insurance for you! If we expect your insurance company to pay 100% of the billed charges, you will not need to pay anything on the day of service. If there is a copay involved for any treatment, it is our policy that your portion be paid on the day of service. If you do not have dental insurance, your balance must be paid in full on the day of service. If you have specific questions about your dental insurance plan, please give us a call! Every plan is different, and we are happy to contact your insurance carrier to provide you with the answers.
Do you have any financing plans available?
We accept Care Credit credit cards. We would be happy to assist you in applying for this payment service. We do not offer any "in house" payment plans, however, if your treatment plan requires several appointments, we can spread out your balance owed over those appointments, but you must be paid in full upon completion of your dental treatment. Our office staff would be happy to answer any questions you may have about financing options.
